Death storm Enugu community as 8 suffocated to death in septic tank
On Monday 22 July 2019 death storms Igogoro community, Enugu Ezike, Igbo-Eze north local government area, Enugu state as 8 boys were allegedly suffocated to death inside an underground tank while siphoning water from it.
According to an eyewitness, Silas Odo, he said that the water the tank was almost exhausted which made the labourer move his generator inside the tank.
As soon as the labourer started the generator, the carbon circulated and heated up the whole environment. He said that the labourer came out washed his head to relieve himself of the effects of the carbon and entered back before he was choked.
He also said, "they came to work for my son who was building his residential house. They have even finished working and had returned for refreshments when someone raised an alarm about a choking labourer in the nearby building site, one of then rushed to help out and also choked to death.
Seeing what had happened, others tried to assist them and they all suffocated to death.
Chidi who lost his brother in the incident, gave the names of five out of the eight persons, Uchechukwu Idoko, Oluchi Eze, While Onu, Ifeanyi Abugu, and Omenkeya Eze.
One of the deceased father, Mr John Onu said he had not gotten the courage to explain the tragic death of his son Ejike Onu.
